NESDev Compo 2022 - Final Release


Huzzah. It's complete! Well... okay it's as done as it's going to get for the contest anyway. All four floors of the first zone have their level lists tweaked with a reasonable difficulty curve. New features since RC3 include:

  • Unrestricted movement speed: when a room is cleared, feel free to book it. This is very useful when trying to locate the big key and boss chambers, as the mazes can require a bit of backtracking.
  • Disco tiles now indicate whether all participants must move to the groove
  • Health Drought reduction: if it's been too long since your last small heart, try defeating a slime. After a while they guarantee a drop
  • Spawning space restriction: no more walking into the boss room and immediately getting trashed. Now you've got at least a turn or two to read the room before you need to react

Overall I'm pretty happy with how this turned out given the short time span. Good luck to all participants! I can't wait to play everyone's entries tomorrow. :D
